THE ROLE OF A BSL INTERPRETER

15 Apr THE ROLE OF A BSL INTERPRETER

Here’s a question for you; is there anything such as calm when you are a BSL/English Sign Language Interpreter?
Remark! Interpreting currently has 5 very busy London based Remark! In-house Interpreters.  Our team is made up of 2 RSLI’s and 4 TSLI’s.
Michelle, our lovely Booking Co-ordinator, keeps our calendars booked with various assignments and is great at chasing the information we need to prepare for them. There are days when we can travel from one side of London to the other using our famous, fabulous London Transport system (which is great when is it working well and there is not a tube strike!).  Most of our bookings are in and around London but we have the odd few just outside too and as Remark! gains more and more contracts, we are finding ourselves travel further afield.
Interpreting is a demanding job, but a fantastic and rewarding one too.  It takes years of training, continued professional development and peer support to remain in the profession and maintain the skills needed.
Remark! not only offers it’s In-house Interpreters training but also provides us with group and one-to-one mentoring too. This is to ensure that our Interpreters are fully equipped to attend any booking with the ability to rise to whatever challenges they may face.
